ABOUT
Literary Magazine is a group of students who seek to cultivate their peers' work and create a collection that properly demonstrates the ability, talent, and skill of the Judge Memorial student body. The former club now class period is led and moderated by Mr. Bryan Jeffreys, Judge Memorial's 12th and 9th Grade English, Introduction to Humanities, and Creative Writing teacher. While Judge has had a Literary Magazine since the 60's, it debuted and has been published consistently under the name Catharsis since 1995. Since then, Catharsis has received five highest awards from the National Council of Teachers of English. The Literary Magazine staff is constantly seeking new ways to make Judge's magazine accessible to all and to peak their peers' interest in becoming part of the staff and the countless published students that have submitted their work throughout the years. As of the 2021 school year, Literary Magazine has expanded their work to middle schools part of the Judge Community by creating contests to enforce creativity in our future bulldogs. The class has also constructed monthly draws for Judge students to submit their work and possibly win an assortment of prizes. While managing a variety of responsibilities, at its core, the Literary Magazine staff is dedicated to making Catharsis a professional, thought-provoking, and inspiring representation of our year in creativity.
